Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I might have tried this if I had thought of it before the class started.
The problem is that I have already used "section" to identify the different
days of the week (and time of day) at which students attend the lab.
I now want to define smaller groups, each group including one person from
each of the sections.

I suppose that I could have initially used the file upload to make the
sections the same as the ultimate groups and then assign everyone in each
such 'section' to a corresponding group. Then I could have done a second
file upload to put the students back into their actual sections.

However, we are in the middle of the course now, and the sections are used
to assign the date parameters for the various assignments. So, I can't
monkey with them at this point.
I suppose I might try it at some wee hour of the morning, when nobody is
online.

However, I was kind of hoping someone would say, that one could upload
"group" directly.

Cheers,
Ray

LON-CAPA automatically creates non existing sections when uploading a
classlist if the section column from your file is associated with the
LON-CAPA section field.

Then (or before) you should create your groups. Don't know a batch
creating for this.

Finally, add members to the groups, select to display only one section,
check all and add. This has to be done for all groups.

Maybe this is helpful. It's still a lot of work, but it's more a &q=
uot;select
all and click" job then compare two lists manually.
