Okay, I have additional analysis of the issue. I experience the same weird
behavior editing the XML on the VCU server and on the educog server. If I
try to edit from my work computer, I cannot use the "Edit XML" mode.

However, I might have narrowed it down to the <script
type="loncapa/perl"></script> block. Provided the problem does _not_ contain
a script block, I can use the Edit XML feature.

For example, the following problem can be edited in XML mode successfully:

[snip]
<problem>
<startouttext/>blah, blah, blah<endouttext/>
<numericalresponse answer="4" id="11">
    <responseparam name="tol" default="5%" type="tolerance"
description="Numerical Tolerance" />
    <responseparam name="sig" default="0,15" type="int_range,0-16"
description="Significant Figures" />
    <textline readonly="no" />
</numericalresponse>
</problem>
[end]

However, this version cannot be successfully edited in XML mode:

[snip]
<problem>
<script type="loncapa/perl">
</script>
<startouttext/>blah, blah, blah<endouttext/>
<numericalresponse answer="4" id="11">
    <responseparam name="tol" default="5%" type="tolerance"
description="Numerical Tolerance" />
    <responseparam name="sig" default="0,15" type="int_range,0-16"
description="Significant Figures" />
    <textline readonly="no" />
</numericalresponse>
</problem>
[end]

Note that the only difference is the (empty) script block. With that script
tag, the "Submit Changes" features do not successfully complete. Again, this
is only from my work computer. I've actually tried two different machines
here on our network. Both exhibit the same issue.

Help?

Thanks,
Jay
