[LON-CAPA-users] Remove a student answer(?) / reset an assignment for a student

HI All,

Is there a way to reset a student attempt on a homework activity or otherwise remove a student answer so they can try again? We recently stumbled onto

Modify Parameter Settings > Reset Student Access Times

which seemed to do what we wanted it to do, but I’ve found that only works in some situations and to be honest I’m not sure why it works when it does and why it doesn’t when it doesn’t.

In any case, here’s my use case: as I’ve mentioned before we’re collecting in-lab data in Lon-Capa and then feeding it into student postlab assignments by putting them together in a sequence. We’ve tried hard to set boundaries on the data the students can input so it’s not totally out in left field, but for example we have a lab with unknown solutions where the students have to tell which unknown they’re working with: 1, 2 or 3. Wouldn’t you know that somehow a student inputs 2 when it should have been 3 which throws off all subsequent Lon-Capa feedback on their results. Is there any way, once that answer has been submitted and graded as correct by Lon-Capa, to go back and remove the answer or even reset the lab itself to give the student a fresh start?

Thanks,

Doug
