No, only university internal reasons:
Port 8080 is used for the LON-CAPA webserver, which serves the icons you
mention. Some (many...) month ago we switched ssh for testing purposes
temporary from 22 to 8080 to avoid university internal restrictions (>
8000) but also to avoid conflicts with the LON-CAPA webserver (not 8080).
