As a followup, I should point out that the problems that experience the
"buggy" behavior are most likely using the jsmath display feature (I don't
have access to the source code, so I can't confirm that with absolute
certainty).

Also I can only reproduce the problem on Internet Explorer. Firefox doesn't
seem to be affected.
