Thanks for the info - not quite what I am looking for. I forgot to
mention that the csv or xls files that I want to point to are not
static - created by the problem. So each student get his/her own
version. This may be possible using the window tag if it has an
attribute mimetype which generates the header "Content-type:
application/csv\n\n". So if the mimetype is not specified, then it
defaults to text/html.

Spreadsheet.problem allows the student to download an Excel spreadsheet.
(There are some extra instructions for us, since our school computers
have restrictive security and prevent Excel sheets from being saved).
Some of the other verbiage deals with the issue that my students also
need to download a little add-in which supports the grading logic in the
spreadsheet.<br><br>
The spreadsheet checks their responses for correctness (sort of a simpler
LonCapa!). When they successfully complete the spreadsheet, a unique code
is generated for the student (indicating completion). That answer code is
entered as a problem response in LonCapa. This in turn pops up another
problem part where they send their spreadsheet back to me using a
dropbox.<br><br>
