[LON-CAPA-users] uploading scores onto LON-CAPA from anonymous scantron forms

We just started using randomized exams at FSU and it has gone very well. So
here is what you need to do:

1. In the /home/httpd/lonTabs directory is a file called
scantronformat.tab. The default contains the msu scoring format. What you
need to find out is the format from your scoring office is produced OR if
they produce it in the format you need. Then edit scantronformat.tab to
match the scoring office file.

Our format file looks like below and the description line explains what
goes in there. (I removed all the other lines.) All the numbers refer to
the columns for a record.

#name:description:code
location:CODEstart:CODElength:IDstart:IDlength:Qstart:Qlength:Qoff:Qon:PaperID:PaperIDlength:FirstName:FirstNamelength:LastName:LastNamelength
fsucode:FSU Randomized Exam Form:-1:47:6:54:9:80:10: :1:1:5:45:1:30:14

Example of one line from the scoring office. Each line is one student record.
00001 SMITH J GEECBI
555551234 1 1
           1 1

Restart httpd once you made the changes.

2. Once you got the file from your scoring office, do the following:
a. View any of the problems for the exam.
b. Click on PGRD, then GRADE scantron file
c. Upload your file under the table with heading "Specify a Scantron data
file to upload".
d. If upload is successful, it will say so and provide a link back to the
Grading Menu page.
e. Click on GRADE scantron again.

3. Now you basically want to select the options in the first table.
a. Sequence to grade - the exam/quiz you are grading.
b. Scoring office file - the name of the file you uploaded in (2)
c. Format - what you edit in (1)
d. Save code - use that same code when you produce the randomized exam.
e. The last two options should match what you intend to do.
f. Click on Validate Scantron Records.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen. It is pretty nice - like if a
student did not bubble the code in correctly by a letter the system
suggests what it should be. So far the system is right on - but check first.

Hope the above is enough to get you going. I assume you already know how to
produce randomized exams.
