I had some unexpected entries in the logs last night and I was curious if
anyone had any ideas about what might have been going on.

My library server (loncapal1) had the following:
--------------------- Kernel Begin ------------------------

 WARNING: Segmentation Faults in these executables
    /usr/sbin/httpd :  2 Time(s)

 WARNING: General Protection Faults in these executables
    traps: /usr/sbin/httpd :  4 Time(s)

 ---------------------- Kernel End -------------------------

4 of my 5 access servers (loncapa2, loncapa3, loncpaa5, loncapa6)  had the
following:
 --------------------- Kernel Begin ------------------------

 WARNING: Segmentation Faults in these executables
    lonc: dalton.ch :  1 Time(s)

---------------------- Kernel End -------------------------

I'm guessing that the dalton.ch is a truncated dalton.chem.sfu.ca.  I
understand what segementation faults are but I certainly didn't expect to
see them on 5 of my 7 servers. The load balancer (loncapa) and 1 of the
access servers (loncapa7) did not have them.

The access servers had entries in lonc_errors.

loncapa2 had:
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 3091': Can't locate
object method "Shutdown" via package "LondConnection=HASH(0x2203908)"
(perhaps you forgot to load
"LondConnection=HASH(0x2203908)"?) at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 754.
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 1457': Can't locate
object method "Shutdown" via package "LondConnection=HASH(0x21fbce8)"
(perhaps you forgot to load
"LondConnection=HASH(0x21fbce8)"?) at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 754.
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 1458': Event 'Connection
to lonc client 0'
: GLOB(0x22045a8) isn't a valid IO at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 647.

loncapa3 had:
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 451': Can't locate
object method "Shutdown" via package "LondConnection=HASH(0x18867c0)"
(perhaps you forgot to load
"LondConnection=HASH(0x18867c0)"?) at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 754.
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 452': Event 'Connection
to lonc client 0':
GLOB(0x1864b48) isn't a valid IO at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 647.

loncapa5 had:
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 611': Can't locate
object method "Shutdown" via package "LondConnection=HASH(0x29162f0)"
(perhaps you forgot to load
"LondConnection=HASH(0x29162f0)"?) at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 754.

loncapa6 had:
Event: trapped error in `?? loncnew:1832': Can't call method "peername" on
an undefined value at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 228.
Event: trapped error in `Connection to lonc client 50': Can't locate object
method "Shutdown" via package "LondConnection=HASH(0x1cbe7b8)" (perhaps you
forgot to load
"LondConnection=HASH(0x1cbe7b8)"?) at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 754.

loncapal1 had:
Event: trapped error in `?? loncnew:1832': Can't call method "peername" on
an undefined value at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 228.
Event: trapped error in `?? loncnew:1832': Can't call method "peername" on
an undefined value at /home/httpd/perl/loncnew line 228.

I did not see anything unusual in lond.log or lonnet.log and there was not
an unusually high load last night. I have a server that monitors the
temperature in the server room and the temperatures were normal. None of
this seems to have affected anything, the servers are all running fine.

Any insights are welcome.

Thanks,
