Thanks, I'll give that a try this evening and report back.  It looks like these are just man pages that will likely be never used (meaning I *could* delete the part of the SPEC file that checks for these files) but I'd like a build as close to "official" as is possible.

I used the R-phpSerialize-0.8-01.0.fc11.lc.src.rpm from the LON-CAPA testing repository.  The changelog indicates an initial build on July 1, 2009.
