Well it was neccessary but not sufficient step.

It appears to me that there is another issue. You've renamed your
machine in the lon-capa sense of the name from 'acadiaul8' to
'acadiaul1'

Which is sure to cause issues. Running UPDATE again and changing this
back would be a good idea.

I'm not sure these are causing any issues. Current version of lon-capa
aren't sensitive to IP issues, and the alias you have setup should
work.

Probing the machine from here, I appear to not be able to see the
acadiau machine connect to the msu server. In fact I'm not even seeing
attempting to connect. Is there some firewalling which would
prevent outbound connections on port 5663 from the lon-capa.acadiau.ca
machine to s10.lite.msu.edu?

(Inbound connections from s10.lite.msu.edu to lon-capa.acadiau.ca seem
to be working fine...)
