  Log:
  Finally figured out how to get the symb from the remote correctly and 
  reliably, I think. Allowed me to get rid of a lot of extraneous (confusing)
  stuff.
  
  Also added command documenting the "advancedUser" function's raison
  d'etre, including how it should theoretically work and why it doesn't
  work that way now, so future generations can understand.
