  Yes, I see.  I guess I never really believed that this was possible and thus 
never tried it (which was probably a very good thing).  
   I am a little surprised that this works with local authentication.  Does 
this present any security risks?

Anyway I think it makes sense to me now -- and naturally, a person would want 
to sign in on the server nearest to them on the network.
