In general, 
\[ y = v_{0y}t + \frac{1}{2}at^2, \]
where a is the acceleration, and $v_{0y}$ is the y-component of the initial velocity. 

So in the case of gravity $a = \pm$ g where g = +9.81 - 
The upper sign applies to y-axis down, the lower to y-axis up: 
\[ y = v_{0y}t + \frac{1}{2}gt^2 \ \ \ \ (y-axis down),  \]
or 
\[ y = v_{0y}t - \frac{1}{2}gt^2 \ \ \ \ (y-axis up).  \]
