[LON-CAPA-users] default.meta files

I don't believe the web interface provides any direct means of downloading uploading the default.meta files.  
I think you'd need linux shell access to download or upload these files.
It does 'seem' at times that it would be nice to be able to do what you suggest, although I have never found it to be too much bother to just fill out the web form as needed.

Example of the contents of such a text file:

When you are viewing the directory screen of your construction space, there is a dropbox near the top left, called 
"Actions for current directory".
One of the items which you can select is ""Edit Metadata".  This allows your to fill-out some fields of the default metadata file.

Hi 
Whenever I click the "publish" button for a resource there is a list of notifications of the form 
" No file: /priv/SOME/PATH/default.meta " 
The contextual online help doesn't say much about those files, rather it speaks about meta data in general. 
Otherwise I didn't find any mention of these files in the online author guide. 
My assumption is that having such files will ease the process of publishing. 
My questions: 
1. How can I create these default meta files. 
2. Once they would be created: would I be able to edit them offline (as I would with problem files)? 
Examples of meta files, or pointers to further documentation would be great.
