LONCAPA uses latex not pdflatex, so also pngs will be converted to eps for printing.

Are png files also supposed to autoconvert?

As a second question, has anyone had issues with eps files causing a pagebreak
when they show up in the second column? eps files from inkscape, if they show up
in the second column of a homework assignment, will cause an end to the column.
