[LON-CAPA-users] Is there an &EXT function for elapsed time on a timed problem?

Happy New Year Everyone,

At the request of some of the instructors I work with here I’ve written a JavaScript/HTML5 timer that will give students a visual indication of how much time they have remaining on a timed quiz. I’ve made use of the HTML5 session storage in order to maintain the correct time as they submit parts of the problem with the attendant page reloads and overall it works well. However, I’m envisioning some fringe cases where the session storage thing will be problematic or confusing and before going further into enhancing that to address situations where, for example, the student is allowed multiple attempts at the problem and goes from one to the next without closing the browser (and so resetting the countdown timer) I thought it would be worth asking if there exsits an &EXT function that would give access to the official elapsed time. I do not see it listed in “The Guts of Lon-Capa” or on Guy’s “Some things to do with &EXT()” page, but I do not know for sure if those are comprehensive resources or merely suggestive of the things that exist, so thought I would ask. Thank you in advance!

Doug
