Jim,

=46rom what I know a student would be 'logged out' if either the file =
under lonIDs with their session
information disappeared or if somehow their cookie on their local =
browser got deleted
or corrupted. The latter could happen if someone else logged in under =
the same browser.

There is a really long time out of about 24 hours for session files. =
Every night the files are deleted if at that
time the session has been untouched for more than 24 hours. That means =
this is typically a day to 2 days
before they should get deleted. This is set under =
/etc/httpd/conf/loncapa.conf lonExpire

Is there something else that mucks with the parameters and interferes on =
a sporadic basis with the
sending of the cookie?

Mark

one student clicked on a problem and was immediately returned to the log =
in page. She said, " loncapa always logs me out in the middle of my =
session." Other students in the room then agreed. I have not seen this =
while logging in as a course coordinator, but is there a timeout =
somewhere that I should look for? =20
