[LON-CAPA-dev] make tardist notes

Dear All:

An update.

cd loncom/build
make tardist
  ... produces ../../loncapa.tar.gz

mv loncapa.tar.gz to a new directory
tar xzvf loncapa.tar.gz

./CHECKRPMS is functional
./UPDATE is functional
./TEST is functional

There is even a README.

CAVEAT: Note the word "functional" above.

There are still some things I would like to iron
out before making the tarball distro
"mainstream" either for developers or system
administrators.

For instance, I want the system admin to be
able to choose his hosts.tab without having
to create softlinks through the command shell.

Till then, the journey continues with
install.lon-capa.org, STABLE, and latest
all converging into the new strategy.
