Hi Amos,

Yes, the self-enrollment is an official part of LON-CAPA since 2.7.0 and was announced:

A bit hidden due to many new features:
Course Management
[...]
- Courses can be configured to allow students to self-enroll.

There have been added some extensions since then and even more are planned.
As Course Coordinator you have to go to the user management to configure it for your course.
