Mark,
To display a multi-page PDF included in a LON-CAPA course when using Safari on an IPad running iOS 13 or later, "mobile website" mode needs to be in use. In "desktop website" mode Safari will only display the first page of the PDF. To switch mode, tap AA at the left of the address bar, and select the "Request Mobile Website" from the list. To switch back, tap AA again and select the "Request Desktop Website" option.
For more details, visit the MSU LON-CAPA portal -- loncapa.msu.edu. -- and follow the links:
"Information for students" > "Getting started" > "Viewing PDFs in Safari on iPad or iPhone"
The direct link to the "Viewing PDFs in Safari on iPad or iPhone" item is:

Subject: Unusual iPad behavior with pdfs
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to see if anyone has experienced an issue with pdfs and iPads.
Our lab writeups are pdf files. The students download them and print them for use in lab.
If a student tries to access the pdf file through LONCAPA on an iPad on Safari, the iPad only shows the first page of the pdf file.
This is reproducible on several different iPads at this point. It displays properly in Safari on the Mac.
These pdfs are published. If I republish this file with a public access status so that it can be
accessed with just a URL and no login, the issue does not arise.
Again, I’m just poking out there to see if anyone has run into this situation and perhaps knows why this might be happening.
Thanks!
Mark
