Hello all,

A number of loncapa.org web sites have now been moved outside the MSU PA network. As a result, access to install.loncapa.org is available again from outside MSU.

Accordingly, I recommend either changing the line:

enabled=0

to

enabled=1

(or deleting the entire line)

for any entries for loncapa repos in /etc/yum.conf or
/etc/yum.repos.d/loncapa.repo on your LON-CAPA servers/VMs.

******

Status update as of July 15th:

(a) Posting to the LON-CAPA mailing lists (e.g., lon-capa-admin at mail.lon-capa.org) can resume.
E-mail sent to @lon-capa.org, @loncapa.org, and @lite.msu.edu addresses which originates from outside the MSU network is once again deliverable.

(b) The following *.loncapa.org web sites are now accessible again when accessed from outside the MSU network: loncapa.org, mail.loncapa.org, support.loncapa.org, install.loncapa.org, bugs.loncapa.org, and source.loncapa.org

(c) LON-CAPA nodes for the msudemo and msuk12 domains are still *not* yet available.

Subject: Status of *.loncapa.org web sites and e-mail to loncapa.org addresses as of June 4th

Hello all,

A temporary change in MSU's campus firewall rules is responsible for the
following:

(a) e-mail sent to @lon-capa.org and @lite.msu.edu e-mail addresses
which originates from outside the MSU network is currently undeliverable.

(b) *.loncapa.org web sites are currently inaccessible if accessed from
outside the MSU network.

(c) LON-CAPA nodes for the msudemo and msuk12 domains are unavailable.

Note: access to the main MSU LON-CAPA production nodes, i.e, msu domain
(including s10.lite.msu.edu), is unaffected, and those nodes continue to
operate normally.

So, currently (outside the MSU network): (1) yum updates will fail on
your LON-CAPA servers, and (2) if you send a post to any of the LON-CAPA
mailing lists your post will not reach the list (or indeed the list
admin), and (3) web access to LON-CAPA's bug tracker: bugs.loncapa.org,
and the source code repository: source.loncapa.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi
are unavailable.

My recommendation would be to disable entries for the lon-capa repos on
your LON-CAPA node(s) by adding this line:

enabled=0

for any entries for loncapa repos in /etc/yum.conf or
/etc/yum.repos.d/loncapa.repo.

Once access to install.loncapa.org is available again from outside the
MSU network I will send an announcement to this list, at which point you
can remove the enabled=0 line.

In the meantime if you have questions about LON-CAPA which you would
usually post to one of the LON-CAPA mailing lists you'll need to send an
e-mail directly to raeburn AT msu.edu

Thank you,

Stuart Raeburn
