[LON-CAPA-admin] Recovering deleted discussion?

Hi all, 

We have a situation at Ball State where it could be important to retrieve discussion items that have been deleted by the course coordinator. 

Are these discussions just marked as deleted or are they completely gone? Does anyone know whether we can recover them? 

We do have backups, but I'm not inclined to simply restore and wipe out later data. I'm not sure at this time whether it would be worthwhile to restore the entire system to a new machine in order to get at the discussions and I'm not sure whether doing so would help anyway. Can anyone comment on that possibility?
