Lars,
The memcached-1.2 in the LON-CAPA CentOS 5 repository had a dependency
on an older version of libevent which your yum update wanted to update.
On the afternoon of 5/17 I updated the LON-CAPA CentOS 5 repository on
install.loncapa.org by replacing memcached-1.2 with a newer rpm (for
memcached-1.4) which has a dependency of the new version of libevent,
which your yum update was trying to update to.
If you do:
yum update
you should now be able to update successfully.
If problems persist, you could try:
yum clean all
yum update
Note:
rpm -q memcashed
was reporting that no package was installed because of a typo
(memcashed instead of memcached).
