[LON-CAPA-admin] server not forwarding to regular email

A little more info,
When I do nmap it looks like port 25 is closed on the local network:
nmap -p 25 127.0.0.1
Starting Nmap 4.11 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2009-08-30 13:53 PDT
Interesting ports on schubert.tmcc.edu (127.0.0.1):
PORT STATE SERVICE
25/tcp closed smtp
Could this be a reason why lon-ca-a is not forwarding messages to email.
Lars.

Hi again,
OK, I looked in /var/log/maillog, and I get a connection refused error:

Hi,
We just noticed that our server is not forwarding lon-capa messages to regular email addresses. I thought no special configuration was involved with this. Is this correct? Where should I look?
We're running a CentOS 5.3 server.
Thanks,
Lars.
