The short answer is that there isn't any easy way of changing the
lon-capa domain name. The only real way is to do a complete wipe and
reinstall.

But this doesn't sound like a problem with the lon-capa domain name. A
name of 'localhost' for the lon-capa domain should work okay, but I
would suggest picking something more useful for long term.

If your computer has a hostname of 'localhost' that won't work, as
localhost always refers to the local machine.

You can change a computer's hostname (at least under Fedora, let me
know if you are using a different distribution) by using the tool

system-config-network

You'll need to change things under the 'DNS' tab.

You will also need to modify the file

/home/httpd/lonTabs/hosts.tab

and restart the webserver and lon-capa after changing the values.

You will also need to name the computer whatever the IP address you
have assigned to that computer's real name is. If it doesn't have a
name you can get by by giving it a name hat is the same as the IP
address for the machine.

Let me know how it goes.
