[LON-CAPA-admin] initial setup

Some questions about the initial setup of a LonCapa server: 

1) our network admin just gave me a static IP, gateway, subnet, and dns.
Does he also have to provide me with a host and domain name, or is this 
something I can just 'pick'?  (or is it something we have to contact our 
service providors for?) 

2) We have downloaded and installed LonCapa, but at what point do we need to 
"contact lon-capa at lon-capa.org to have it linked to the existing cluster,"?
