Just a thought - when the lib server was upgraded to FC2 and lc 1.3, all 
the files under /home were tarballed. FC2 was installed as a clean install. 
After that I untar the /home files and add each filesystem user (mostly 
libraries) individually since an author is assigned as a co-author in 
library. Could the slow connection be due to the fact that the group id for 
each library is not set right? - timeout in reading a directory though once 
when the course contents are shown it is pretty fast.
