I would guess rebooting has nothing to do with it, it rather
disappeared earlier and you only noticed it when you rebooted. Since
the binary file is not needed after it is running.

This is the first that I have heard of it dispearing of off a machine
twice.

We had guessed that this was releated to doing a yum update, and
something in one of the rpm installs was causing it.

Had you done one recently?

Can you set up some kind of cron job to watch for the existance of
this file on the machine in question?
