[LON-CAPA-admin] installation problems

Hi,

I am trying to install an access server here at SFU. And I am trying
do this "by the book", i.e., follow the instructions at

http://install.loncapa.org/docs/install/index.html

You probably saw my first comments about this web page a few days ago.
Anyway, the following is more serious.

In the section "Installing LON-CAPA files" I am told to run the
"./UPDATE" command. Maybe this should have made me suspicious (I do
not want to update anything - I want to install from scratch), this
command just fails immediately.
1) The install web page completely fails to mention that you must
install the LON-CAPA-systemperl-3.5-rh7.i386.rpm package before you
can run the UPDATE command. There are probably a few more packages
that should be mentioned: gnuplot-3.7.1-5.i386.rpm and libgd-1.3-4.i386.rpm
for example. Anything else?
2) Even after installing LON-CAPA-systemperl (and gnuplot, libgd) the
installation still fails. These are the error messages:

**** ERROR **** httpd.conf has an overlapping definition of ScriptAlias (it is incorrectly set to "/var/www/cgi-bin/").
This conflicts with loncapa_apache.conf.
**** ERROR **** httpd.conf has an overlapping definition of DocumentRoot (it is incorrectly set to "/var/www/html").
This conflicts with loncapa_apache.conf.
make[1]: *** [webserverconf] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/loncapa-0.6.2/loncom/build'
make: *** [postinstall] Error 2

and the WARNINGS file contains:

**** ERROR **** CVS source file does not exist: ../../loncom/hosts.tab and neither does target: /home/httpd/lonTabs/hosts.tab

What's wrong?
