[LON-CAPA-admin] Production access server specs

Hi,
    We are in the process of determining what access server computers we need 
to purchase to  complement our present, lone, library server.  

Any current recommendations about hardware specs would be welcome. 

The library server, purchased in April 2001, has 
dual 1Ghz cpu; 1GB mem;  3x 18.2GB SCSI/ Raid 4L.

We are currently considering 2 access machines with:  dual 2.4GHz cpu; 4GB 
mem; Raid 1 with 2 SCSI disks (mirroring...not sure whether this is necessary 
but suspect that the increased cost might be relatively small compared to 
potential benefit).

We are currently running Loncapa adequately for 400 student*courses with a 
maximum of 110 sharing  a common due time. We propose to increase this to 
2000 with  potentially 1000+ sharing a common due time.....
